Maytag washing machine repair in Kansas City

Maytag has been Whirlpool since 2006, so the model prefix matters more than the badge. An MVW or MHW is Whirlpool inside. An LAT, PAV or MAH is a genuine Newton-built Maytag with its own parts, and plenty of those are still running in Kansas City basements.

What goes wrong with Maytag washing machines

Dependable Care belt-drive losing spin
The old LAT and PAV top-loaders run two belts off a motor that slides on a carriage. When the drive belt glazes, the tub agitates but will not spin up. Drive belt, pump belt and often the brake package go in together.
Water under the transmission
A puddle that appears only during the wash cycle on a belt-drive Maytag usually means the centerpost tub seal has let go. It leaks onto the base frame and rusts it, which is where the machine stops being worth the teardown.
Neptune door lock faults
The MAH front-loaders will not fill and will not start because the wax-motor door latch has failed or the strike is worn. The whole latch assembly is replaced as a unit, and these parts are getting harder to source each year.
Commercial-technology top-loaders stuck in wash
On MVW machines with the metal wash basket, the shift actuator and rotor position sensor decide whether the drive is agitating or spinning. When the actuator fails the basket turns in wash and never spins the water out.

Before you call

Read the prefix before you spend money. MVW and MHW parts are stocked everywhere; LAT, PAV and MAH supply is shrinking, and that changes the repair-or-replace answer more than age does.

Pricing
