- With no dispenser or filter to blame, this is nearly always airflow. Either frost has built over the evaporator behind the rear freezer panel and choked the duct, or the air damper between compartments is stuck. Pulling that panel and reading the frost pattern settles it quickly.
- Defrost circuit failure
- The freezer stays cold, the food section loses ground over several days, and a fan starts buzzing as it catches ice. The defrost heater or bimetal has opened so frost never clears. Thaw the coil completely, then test heater, bimetal and control.
- Hardened door gasket
- The seal has gone stiff, corners no longer grab, and the door frame sweats in summer. Gaskets are still available for these cabinets, but one costs a meaningful fraction of what the appliance is worth, which is worth discussing before the part is ordered.
