LG refrigerator repair in Kansas City

LG builds its refrigerators around a linear compressor, which drives a piston on springs with a linear motor instead of turning a crankshaft and runs at variable speed off an inverter board rather than a start relay. It fails in a way that fools people: the unit sounds normal and the fan keeps turning while nothing is being pumped.

What goes wrong with LG refrigerators

Running but not cooling
Both compartments drift toward room temperature over a day while the refrigerator hums and the fan runs. We check compressor current and compare suction and discharge line temperature by hand, because a failed inverter board looks identical from the front. A real compressor job means a new filter drier and a weighed recharge.
Er dH defrost heater error
The board posts Er dH when it runs a defrost cycle and the coil temperature never climbs the way it should. The sheathed heater at the evaporator, the defrost thermistor, or the connector between them has opened.
Fresh food warm with the freezer fine
The damper that meters cold air forward sticks part-closed or its stepper motor quits, so one compartment starves while the other holds. The damper assembly is reachable from inside the cabinet and costs a fraction of the sealed-system work people fear.

Before you call

Get the full model and serial off the tag inside the fresh food compartment before anyone quotes you, because compressor and inverter board numbers change by production run. A linear compressor replacement is worth doing on a newer French door and rarely worth it past ten years.

Pricing

$225 to $375 for fan, defrost and control work; $450 to $900 for compressor or sealed-system repairs. The $109 diagnostic is credited to the repair when you approve the written quote.
