What goes wrong with Electrolux dryers
- Squeal that follows drum speed
- A dry rear drum bearing makes a rising squeal that tracks the drum, unlike a belt chirp that comes and goes. The drum comes out of the cabinet to reach the bearing.
- Tumbling with no heat
- The heater sits in its own housing with a high limit and a thermal limiter bolted to it, and a blocked vent opens the limiter. Replacing it without clearing the duct puts you back here in a month.
- Rattle or scrape from behind the filter
- The blower wheel is on the motor shaft, so a sock or a coin that gets past the lint filter ends up hitting the housing on every revolution. Drying slows too, because the wheel is no longer moving clean air.
