Electrolux dryer repair in Kansas City

The Electrolux dryer that matches these front-load washers carries its drum on a rear bearing with glides or rollers at the front, and heats through an open coil in a housing with its limiter mounted right on that housing. The steam models add a water valve and a nozzle into the drum.

What goes wrong with Electrolux dryers

Squeal that follows drum speed
A dry rear drum bearing makes a rising squeal that tracks the drum, unlike a belt chirp that comes and goes. The drum comes out of the cabinet to reach the bearing.
Tumbling with no heat
The heater sits in its own housing with a high limit and a thermal limiter bolted to it, and a blocked vent opens the limiter. Replacing it without clearing the duct puts you back here in a month.
Rattle or scrape from behind the filter
The blower wheel is on the motor shaft, so a sock or a coin that gets past the lint filter ends up hitting the housing on every revolution. Drying slows too, because the wheel is no longer moving clean air.
Steam cycle doing nothing
Kansas City water leaves scale, and the steam solenoid valve and its nozzle are small enough to block with it. You either get no steam at all or a slow drip into the drum that wets one side of the load.

Before you call

Clear the whole vent run, not just the lint screen, before anyone replaces a limiter on one of these. If the steam option has quit, the valve and nozzle are worth checking before the control board.

Pricing

$150 to $250 for a no-heat repair; $200 to $300 for drum, belt and bearing work. The $109 diagnostic is credited to the repair when you approve the written quote.
