Whirlpool dryer repair in Kansas City

Whirlpool puts a one-shot thermal fuse on the blower housing, and on many of these models it sits in the motor circuit rather than only the heat circuit. A restricted vent does not just cost you heat, it kills the whole machine. The drum rides on a felt seal at the front, turned by a belt that wraps it entirely.

What goes wrong with Whirlpool dryers

Completely dead after a long, hot drying cycle
Nothing happens at the start button, and on some models the lights stay dark. The thermal fuse opened because exhaust temperature climbed past its rating, which a restricted vent causes. Replacing the fuse and leaving the duct packed means we are back in months, so the vent and high-limit thermostat get checked too.
Motor runs, drum does not turn
The blower spins freely with a slapping sound and the drum is loose when you turn it by hand. The belt snapped. We check the idler pulley and rear rollers while we are in there, because a seized roller is what shreds belts.
Deep rumbling that worsens under a load
The rear drum support rollers wear oval on their shafts and the drum begins to thud as it turns. Left alone the shafts score and the rollers bind. Rollers, shafts, idler and belt come as one kit worth doing at once.

Before you call

Disconnect the transition hose once a year and check the wall cap flapper still swings free. On this design a blocked vent takes out the whole machine, not just the heat.
