Whirlpool range repair in Kansas City

Whirlpool electric ranges run the oven from a resistance temperature sensor in the upper cavity and a control board full of mechanical relays. An F code tells you what the board concluded, not which part failed, so it narrows the circuit and the meter finds the part.

What goes wrong with Whirlpool ranges

Oven only broils
The upper element glows while the lower stays dark, and there is usually a blister or a burned-through split visible on the sheathed bake element bolted to the rear wall. The element opened at that spot. Two screws and two terminals behind the range, and it is one of the cheapest repairs going.
Oven off by twenty-five to fifty degrees
Bakes run long or scorch on the bottom with no code at all. The cavity temperature probe has drifted; it should read roughly a thousand ohms at room temperature and climb as it heats. We measure it cold and verify real cavity temperature rather than hiding the error behind a calibration offset.
Oven quits mid-bake with an F code
The range shuts the oven down and displays a fault, sometimes after running hotter than commanded. Either a relay on the oven control board welded closed and kept an element energized, or the board lost its sensor input and defaulted to safe. Testing separates the board from the sensor.

Before you call

Think twice before running self-clean on one of these. The control board sits directly behind the panel above the cavity, and post-self-clean board and door lock failures are the most common reason we see an otherwise healthy Whirlpool range.

Pricing

$175 to $325 for most range repairs including parts and labor. The $109 diagnostic is credited to the repair when you approve the written quote.
