Frigidaire range repair in Kansas City
Frigidaire electric ranges, including the Gallery line, control their surface heat with mechanical infinite switches behind the front panel rather than a relay board. The oven side runs on an electronic control that reports faults as F-codes, which is the fastest way in.
What goes wrong with Frigidaire ranges
- Burner stuck on high
- Turn the dial to low and the element still glows full bright. The infinite switch has welded its contacts closed. There is one per element on the bracket behind the control panel, and a dual-ring burner adds a section switch.
- Arcing at a coil element
- On coil-top models the element plugs into a porcelain receptacle block, and that block burns and pits until the connection arcs or dies. The element and the receptacle are replaced together, because a new element in a burnt block fails again quickly.
- F30 or F31 on the display
- Those codes mean the oven sensor circuit reads open or shorted. The sensor is a probe on the back wall of the cavity, and it is usually the sensor or its plug rather than the control board people assume.
- Oven overheating and shutting down
- A runaway temperature code comes up when the control sees the cavity climb past the setpoint with the element still energised. That is a stuck bake relay on the board, and the board is the repair rather than the element.
Before you call
Before anyone sells you a control board, pull the coil element and look at the receptacle, and have the sensor resistance measured. Frigidaire parts are cheap and stocked, so these repairs usually pay for themselves easily.
