What goes wrong with Frigidaire dishwashers

The drain code comes up and an inch of water sits in the tub. Usually the drain pump impeller is wrapped in a label or blocked by glass, or the disposer knockout plug was left in at install.

A float in the base pan trips as soon as water collects under the tub, and the machine stops rather than flooding. The work is tracing where it came from - often the sump gasket or a loose spray arm feed.

Detergent cup still full at the end

The dispenser latch is released by a small wax motor or bimetal that loses travel as it ages. Dishes come out dirty with a full cup of detergent sitting there. The dispenser assembly comes off the inner door panel.

Door falling instead of lowering

Cables run from the door hinge over pulleys at the bottom corners of the tub to the springs. When one jumps its pulley the door drops hard. Both cables and springs get replaced rather than rehooking the loose one.

Before you call

Pull the cylinder filter out of the sump floor and rinse it monthly. It comes out by hand on these, and a clogged one is behind a lot of poor cleaning complaints.
