Viking refrigerator repair in Kansas City

Viking built-in refrigeration hangs the same slab of stainless and the same pro handle as their ranges on a cabinet built around a single sealed system, with air routed from one evaporator to both compartments. That door mass works the hinges harder than anything else we service, and the unit is trimmed into a cutout.

What goes wrong with Viking refrigerators

Door not pulling itself shut
It closes visibly but rides a hair proud at the handle side, and within a day there is frost inside and a compressor running long. The cam closer that lifts and drops the door wears, and a settled floor compounds it. Level the unit, replace the closer, then check the gasket.
Refrigerator warm, freezer fine
One evaporator feeds both sides through a duct and damper. A damper stuck closed, a dead damper motor, or a slowing evaporator fan leaves the freezer cold while the food side climbs. Listening for the fan with the door switch defeated tells you a lot in a minute.
Defrost circuit quitting
It cools well, loses ground over a week, and the fan takes on a buzz as the blade catches ice. The defrost heater or its bimetal has opened and frost built into a block over the coil. Thaw it completely, then test heater, bimetal and control cold.

Before you call

Check the door seal each season with a dollar bill at several heights, since on a door this heavy a slow sag costs cooling long before it looks wrong. Replacement means matching a cutout and trim, so component repairs stay worthwhile far longer here.

Pricing

$225 to $375 for fan, defrost and control work; $450 to $900 for compressor or sealed-system repairs. The $109 diagnostic is credited to the repair when you approve the written quote.
