What goes wrong with Sub-Zero refrigerators

Food side warm, freezer still solid

On a shared-air refrigerator that points at a damper. With dual refrigeration it means the food-side system itself: its evaporator fan, its defrost circuit, or its charge. Each system gets tested separately, and sealed-system work there is Section 608 territory.

Matted condenser, compressors never resting

Both compartments drift a few degrees warm and the unit runs almost continuously. Dust, drywall grit and pet hair pack the fins behind the upper grille, and a cabinet trimmed into millwork has no spare airflow. Brushing the fins and checking the condenser fan motor often ends the call.

Gasket and hinge cartridge

You see sweat on the stainless frame or frost along a shelf edge. The magnetic gasket is strong enough that a slightly out-of-square door still looks shut while it leaks at one corner. Align the hinge cartridge first, or the new gasket fails the same way.

Before you call

Vacuum the condenser behind the upper grille twice a year, more often with shedding dogs, and change the air purification cartridge when the panel asks. That reminder is a timer, not a measurement, so clearing it without cleaning anything buries the problem.
